Cladistics
and Biogeographic analysis of the genus Palpibracus Rondani, 1864 (Diptera,
Muscidae)
Palpibracus Rondani, 1863, a Neotropical muscid genus of 18 species recently reviewed (Carvalho, 1989), will be analyzed with cladistics and biogeographics methods. The project goal is to attest the monophyly of the genus and to propose the phylogenetic relationship among their species. The cladistics analysis will be based in adults morphological characters of the species. The character polarity will be defined through the out-group comparison method and the parsimony analysis will be made by computer programs like Hennig86 version 1.5 and PAUP (Phylogenetic Analysis Using Parsimony). To biogeographic analysis will be applied diferent methods of Historical Biogeography as Panbiogeography, Parsimony Analysis of Endemicity and Cladistics Biogeography.
