Laboratory of Biodiversity and Biogeography: Diptera

Universidade Federal do Paraná - UFPR, Curitiba, Brazil

The Diptera Lab of the Universidade Federal do Paraná (now the Laboratory of Biodiversity and Biogeography) was created in 1983 when Claudio José Barros de Carvalho entered the Department of Zoology, in the Institute of Biological Science, as Assistant Professor. Until now, Carvalho has authored or co-authored 100+ refereed publications and presented over 80+ papers at National and International Congresses. Most of refereed publications are on taxonomy or systematics of flies, but many of them are on biogeography, forensic entomology, fly ecology and fly synanthropy. Carvalho is CNPq fellow since 1986. Several graduate and undergraduate students develop projects in the Lab.
