It is with great regret that we announce the death of Fr. Dr. Jesus Santiago Moure, 97 years old, occurred on Saturday (July 10).
Fr. Moure's work as a scientist and his dedication to the development and expansion of science in Brazil have always been unanimous recognition and received numerous awards and honors, including the highest decorations awarded by the Brazilian government scientists, “Comendador da Ordem Nacional do Mérito Científico” (1995) and the “Grã-Cruz da Ordem Nacional do Mérito Científico” (1998). In 2006, he also received the Diploma of Emeritus Researcher as part of the celebrations of 55 years of CNPq, an entity that helped found.
